Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with students across multiple UK universities about Bitcoin, money, and how their everyday spending choices can quietly shape their financial future.
What started as a few informal campus conversations has now become a clear focus area for us at YouEarnBTC: meeting students where they already are, educating them in simple language, and helping them earn their first sats through normal, real-world spending.
This is not about speculation or trading.
It’s about education, habits, and long-term thinking.
Our session at Brunel University focused on first principles:
- What money actually is
- Why inflation disproportionately affects students and young professionals
- How Bitcoin fits into a long-term savings mindset rather than short-term hype
What stood out was curiosity. Students asked thoughtful questions about risk, volatility, and whether Bitcoin had relevance beyond price charts. That curiosity is exactly where education needs to start.
At Kingston University, the conversation shifted toward practicality & students were particularly engaged in:
- Earning Bitcoin passively rather than buying it outright
- Using normal brands like supermarkets, food delivery, and retail
- Treating Bitcoin as a long-term asset earned gradually
This is where YouEarnBTC resonated strongly.
No new bank accounts. No new cards. No crypto jargon.
Just earning small amounts of Bitcoin while spending pounds as usual.
At Univerisity of Greenwich, we leaned into mindset and incentives and what landed well as framing Bitcoin as:
- Optional, not mandatory
- Educational, not ideological
- Earned slowly, not chased
The idea of “earning before believing” sparked some of the best discussions of the tour.
Many students already understand that the system they’re entering is very different from the one their parents benefited from. Rising costs, stagnant wages, and student debt are not abstract concepts to them.
Why students matter to YouEarnBTC:
Students are not just future users.
They are future decision-makers, founders, employees, and policymakers.
Our approach is simple:
- Low friction
- Real-world relevance
- Education first
YouEarnBTC lets students earn Bitcoin as cashback across everyday brands, without needing to understand wallets, exchanges, or market timing on day one. Learning happens naturally, over time.
This aligns closely with how real financial literacy is built: through experience, not theory.
What’s next
We plan to:
- Continue university talks across London and the UK
- Partner with student societies and entrepreneurship clubs
- Build campus-specific referral and ambassador programs
- Keep Bitcoin education practical, accessible, and grounded
If even a small percentage of students leave these sessions thinking differently about money, we consider it a success.
If you’re a student, educator, or institution interested in hosting a session, feel free to reach out.
